Remove Those Junks

Hubby and I had a house in Alvarado and that's where we stayed when hubby and I flew to Texas from the Philippines. He bought that house in the 90's. It's an old trailer house but very spacious. It is erected in a 0.62 acre lot surrounded with a lot of oak trees. When I just arrived there, I busied myself cleaning and beautifying the house and surroundings. My, that house was so messy and lots of junk inside and outside the house. With the help of my hubby, we cleaned the inside of the house first by vacuuming the carpet and throwing away lots of junk. Our trash was full of junk every time I sorted out the stuffs inside the cabinets. Had I known about Sugar Land Junk removal then it wouldn't have been a problem. But that's too late now. We already sold that house after a year of staying there. My step-daughter bought it from us.

The best thing I can do is to inform my step-daughter about the above website that if she need to get rid off some of her junks, she should call them and they would be happy to come and pick up those unwanted junks in her house. Me, I don't want a lot of junk in my house. It will just occupy more space and make the house crowded. I want a spacious and orderly house. Better give those junks to those who need it.

Dew From Heaven

Hawaiians call coconut water "noelani," which means "dew from the heavens." Many tropical cultures prize coconut water above all other beverages due to its rehydrating and health renewing properties. Not only is coconut water good for you, it's good for plants too, having been traditionally used as a growth supplement in plant propagation. As a result of the rich volcanic soils and mineral-rich seawater in which coconut palms grow, coconut water's nutritional profile is very impressive.

Coconut water is:
• Rich in natural vitamins (especially the B vitamins), minerals, and trace elements (including zinc, selenium, iodine, sulfur, and manganese). Vitamins are necessary for the enzymatic reactions your cells need in order to function.
• Full of amino acids, organic acids, enzymes, antioxidants, and phytonutrients.
• Rich source of electrolytes and natural salts, especially potassium and magnesium.
• Light, low calorie and nearly fat-free, as well as low in sugar but pleasantly sweet—contains about a fifth of the sugar of other fruit juices, like apple or grape juice, as well as containing a little fiber to moderate absorption.
• Rich in cytokinins, or plant hormones, which have anti-aging, anti-cancer, and anti-thrombolytic effects in humans.
Coconut water also has an alkalizing effect on your body, which can help correct the cumulative effects of acidifying foods that make up most diets today. For a complete nutritional profile, refer to the tables at the Coconut Research Center site. The list of health benefits of coconut water is impressive, and growing by leaps and bounds with each new scientific study.

8 Ways To Keep Wrinkles At Bay

There's nothing like your first few wrinkles to announce to the world that you're coming on in age. Some people wear them like a badge of honor, but unlike distinguished gray hair, there's hardly anything attractive about the process of slowly resembling a prune.

With these simple skin care tips, plus smart diet and lifestyle choices, you can fight the onslaught of wrinkles in a natural, non-invasive way.

1. Keep hydrated. As we age, our skin loses its elasticity, thus resulting in wrinkles and fine lines. If you never heeded Mom's admonitions to drink eight glasses of water a day, you'll start to see the wrinkling and dulling effects on your skin as early as your 30s.

An abundant intake of water naturally cleanses our system and flushes out the toxins, promotes better digestion, joint lubrication, and skin hydration. It's the cheapest skin care regimen ever.

2. Moisturize. Aside from hydrating from within, quench your parched skin with moisturizing oil or lotion.

For the body, pick moisturizers with organic emollients like shea butter and jojoba oil to soothe and smoothen skin. For the face, pick a moisturizer that specifically address fine lines and wrinkles. Use a light moisturizer to layer under makeup for daytime, and switch to a heavy-duty cream at night.

Oily-skinned individuals tend to skip this part of the beauty routine, but they need moisturizing, too. The solution? Pick light, non oil-based moisturizers that won't clog pores or contribute to the oil slick (try tinted moisturizers that do double duty), or simply just moisturize at night.

Do you have sensitive skin or easily break out in rashes? It's best to ask a dermatologist to recommend a moisturizer suited to your skin type.

(For more moisturizing tips, read "Why Everyone Needs To Moisturize")

3. Be sun-smart. The beach isn't the only place where we should be slathering on the sunblock. You can be susceptible to overexposure to the sun even while walking to your car, watching junior's soccer game, or having coffee at an outdoor cafĂ©. Don't worry—these days, there's a whole range of sunblock in lower SPF and light formulations especially made for city living.

For those who don't like piling on the products, simply choose makeup with built-in sunscreen to make it easier to protect your skin against the damaging UVA and UVB rays. And don't forget to wear shades—aside from protecting your eyes, it prevents squinting, which can cause wrinkles.

4. Eat your greens. Collagen is the stuff that keeps our skin firm, elastic and smooth. As we age, our capacity to produce it drops, resulting in wrinkles, fine lines, and, saggy skin.

Boost collagen by drinking soy milk, eating Vitamin C-rich dark green veggies like spinach, broccoli, and asparagus, and red fruits and veggies, like tomatoes and beets.

Foods rich in omega fatty acids help stimulate the production of collagen, so load up on salmon and tuna, as well as almonds, cashew nuts, and even avocados.

5. Drink green tea. Instead of going for another coffee run, put the kettle on. While overindulging in coffee may dehydrate skin, sipping soothing anti oxidant-rich green tea protects skin against free radicals and helps delay the aging process.

6. Detox. Kick all your toxin-filled habits; clean living, blood-circulating exercise, and a healthy lifestyle can do wonders for your face. If you can't quit smoking for health reasons, do it for vanity. The more you puff, the more you snuff out the collagen that keeps wrinkles at bay.

Meanwhile, excessive alcohol consumption dehydrates and thins skin, causing wrinkles and that unattractive splotchy look.

7. Get some beauty sleep. Pulling all-nighters or constantly partying till dawn will translate to raccoon eyes and dry, lackluster skin—and not even the most potent moisturizers can repair the damage. Get at least eight hours of shuteye every night to give your skin a chance to regenerate, and you'll be rewarded with a supple, radiant glow.

8. Adopt a positive attitude. Sounds simplistic, but it's true! Worrywarts tend to develop deep creases across their forehead and between their brows from too much frowning. Whenever you catch yourself scrunching up your forehead, channel optimism, and feel your facial muscles relax instantly (bonus: this method helps headache-sufferers, too!).

Flashing Smile

There is nothing like a nice looking set of teeth, when compared to a not-so-nice set of teeth. We make judgments, subconsciously about new people we meet and how their teeth look. In turn, others are also factoring our teeth into the equation when they 'size us up'. Therefore, having a nice looking set of teeth is desirable. Often times, people can tell when our teeth are not real. In addition, replacement teeth can be quite expensive. Therefore, it is desirable to keep our own natural teeth. Our teeth are very important for our survival. We need to eat. We need to rend and tear our food and mix it with saliva for the rest of the digestive cycle to continue. To maintain a perfect healthy body, we need to take extra care of our teeth to have healthy teeth. If you do not take care of them and lose them, there is no get back from it.

Make it a point to visit the dentist at least twice a year and if you're looking for an orthodontist, why not try San Antonio Cosmetic Dentist in the lone star state. If your teeth need to be straightened they can do it for you and give you a flashing smile. Wow, this is what I needed but it's too late now. Most of my bad teeth were already pulled and replaced with dentures.

Removing Gallstones Naturally

Removing Gallstones Naturally by Dr Lai Chiu-Nan

It has worked for many. If it works for you please pass on the good news. Chiu Nan is not charging for it, so we should make it free for everyone. Your reward is when someone, through your word of mouth, benefits from the regime. Gallstones may not be everyone's concern. But they should be because we all have them. Moreover, gallstones may lead to cancer. "Cancer is never the first illness," Chiu Nan points out. "Usually, there are a lot of other problems leading to cancer.

In my research in China , I came across some materials which say that people with cancer usually have stones. We all have gallstones. It's a matter of big or small, many or few.

One of the symp tom s of gallstones is a feeling of bloatedness after a heavy meal. You feel like you can't digest the food. If it gets more serious, you feel pain in the liver area." So if you think you have gallstones, Chiu Nan offers the following method to remove them naturally.

The treatment is also good for those with a weak liver, because the liver and gallbladder are closely linked.

Regimen:
1. For the first five days, take four glasses of apple juice every day. Or eat four or five apples, whichever you prefer. Apple juice softens the gallstones. During the five days, eat normally.
2. On the sixth day, take no dinner.
3. At 6 PM, take a teaspoon of Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate) with a glass of warm water.
4. At 8 PM, repeat the same. Magnesium sulphate opens the gallbladder ducts.
5. At 10 PM, take half cup olive oil (or sesame oil) with half cup fresh lemon juice. Mix it well and drink it. The oil lubricates the stones to ease their passage.
PS. 1cup=250ml, ? cup lemon juice=3 lemons (aprox.)

The next morning, you will find green stones in your stools. "Usually they float," Chiu Nan notes. "You might want to count them. I have had people who passes 40, 50 or up to 100 stones. Very many."

"Even if you don't have any symp tom s of gallstones, you still might have some. It's always good to give your gall bladder a clean-up now and then.

Medical Scrubs

If you are in the medical field and you need some scrubs for women, designer nursing uniforms, or any scrub related apparel, why not check out http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/. Their vast collection of scrubs are a poly-cotton blend and are very lightweight but durable. They are made using the highest quality fabric designed to be stylish, even flattering on anybody. The scrubs are chic, professional and comfortable.

I believe that those who work in the medical field order their scrub uniforms from a place like Blue Sky Scrubs. Perhaps some people probably just go there to order scrubs for themselves or for a Halloween costume. I was browsing their site and I did see a section at Blue Sky Scrubs which was devoted to kids scrubs, so your child could dress up like a doctor for fun or on Halloween. For whatever reasons you have for medical scrubs, perhaps you need mens scrub uniforms, you can buy it at Blue Sky. An important thing to note is that their scrubs cannot be found in stores. You can only find them at the said website.

5 Powerful Foods that Lower Your Blood Pressure

Are you eating enough of these 5 amazing foods that help reduce high blood pressure?

Did you know that stroke and coronary heart disease still remain to be on the list of the top three main causes of death in the USA? It's time to take your health seriously so you don't fall victim to these!

What is High Blood Pressure and how does this come into play?

According to the National Institute for Health, blood pressure levels of 140/90 mmHg or more can be classified as hypertension.

The worst part about having high blood pressure is that the condition can sometimes be present without any symptoms and before we know it, the damage is already extensive. Serious problems that have been associated with high blood pressure include kidney failure, heart attack, heart failure and stroke.

What are the Risk Factors Associated with High Blood Pressure?

Blood pressure can be influenced by a lot of factors – age, race, family history, tobacco use, sedentary lifestyle, diet, binge drinking, and stress levels. Chronic conditions such as sleep apnea, diabetes and high cholesterol levels can also precipitate the development of hypertension.

What can You Do to Lower Blood Pressure?

You don't need potentially dangerous drugs to control and reduce your blood pressure. Controlling blood pressure levels could be as simple as doing lifestyle modifications and eating healthier.

If you are a smoker, quit. If you drink heavily, try to practice self-control. At work, take the stairs instead of the elevator. And if you have been obsessed with sweet, sugary foods as well as processed fast-food meals, then modify your eating habits as well. Learn to eat the right kinds of food before it's too late.

Below are 5 of my top picks for powerful foods that could help you lower your blood pressure levels:

1. Artichokes - artichokes help lower blood pressure

The use of artichokes has been implicated in the lowering of cholesterol levels in the blood. Since hypercholesterolemia is one of the risk factors for high blood pressure, this information is actually good news. Three clinical trials conducted separately by Dr. Barbara Wider supports this fact. In Cochrane Database of Systemic Reviews’ October 2009 issue, where the result of the study was published, it was shown that patients who were diagnosed with hypercholesterolemia and given Artichoke leaf extract exhibited a decrease in their blood cholesterol levels.

Artichokes taste amazing steamed (generally steam for about 1 hour) and then dip each piece into a mixture of olive oil, grass-fed butter, and garlic. Delicious!

2. Bananas - bananas cut high blood pressure

A study published in The New England Journal of Medicine says that incorporating bananas in your day-to-day meals can actually cut stroke-related deaths by as much as 40 percent. A 1997 study at Johns Hopkins University recommended eating at least five bananas daily to achieve the desired effect, and that is to lower elevated blood pressure levels. However, a study conducted by Indian researchers at the Kasturba medical college revealed that people who eat two bananas a day, for one whole week, can lower their blood pressure levels by 10 percent.

Bananas are rich in potassium, which is responsible for the proper functioning of the heart. It works with sodium to maintain balance of the body’s fluids, which is an important factor in the regulation of blood pressure.

3. Beets - compounds in beets beat blood pressure

A research study conducted by scientists from Barts and The London School Medicine revealed that simply drinking one 500 ml glass of beetroot juice each day can produce astounding health benefits, especially to the heart.

Beetroot juice has been found to lower high blood pressure levels. Professors Amrita Ahluwalia and Ben Benjamin, from the William Harvey Research Institute and Peninsula Medical Center, respectively, led the research efforts, which revealed that the consumption of dietary nitrate that is found in beetroot has BP-lowering effects in as fast as 1 hour after ingestion, with the effect lasting for up to 24 hours. The result of the study was published in the March 2008 issue of Hypertension.

You can try beetroot juice, or also try baked beets sliced on salads or as a side dish to dinner.

 4. Cocoa - cocoa helps lower blood pressure

A study conducted by researchers from Germany’s University Hospital of Cologne revealed that cocoa can significantly lower high blood pressure levels. Study results were published in the Archives of Internal Medicine. The beneficial heart effects of cocoa are attributed to its flavonoid content, specifically procyanids.

Because cocoa is most commonly found in chocolate, people falsely assume that eating a lot of chocolate could be good for the health. Keep in mind that cocoa in chocolates have undergone a lot of processing, and it has been mixed with loads of sugar, so this is not totally healthy. The best way to take advantage of the health benefits offered by cocoa is to choose raw cacao – it is good for the heart, the brain and the liver. Raw cacao nibs go great in smoothies! Also use organic cocoa powder in smoothies or homemade hot cocoa sweetened with stevia instead of sugar.

5. Garlic - garlic fights hypertension
Are you eating enough of these 5 amazing foods that help reduce high blood pressure?

Researchers from South Australia’s University of Adelaide have conducted studies, which provide solid proof that the consumption of garlic can indeed help lower elevated blood pressure levels. Garlic supplements in powder form were given and results revealed that it produced a reduction in systolic blood pressure. Garlic has been known all over the world as a very important herb, especially with its heart-protecting capabilities. It helps lower blood cholesterol levels and prevents blood from forming clots (which could lead to heart attack and stroke).

Furthermore, the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences journal has published the results of a laboratory test showing how garlic juice can lead to a decrease in blood pressure levels. Eating the equivalent of 2 cloves of garlic each day can significantly contribute to the health of the heart.

Check this out to discover over 37 additional herbs, spices, and powerful foods that KILL high blood pressure.

Drink Water On Empty Stomach

It is popular in Japan today to drink water immediately after waking up every morning. Furthermore, scientific tests have proven its value. We publish below a description of use of water for our readers. For old and serious diseases as well as modern illnesses the water treatment had been found successful by a Japanese medical society as a 100% cure for the following diseases:
Headache, body ache, heart system, arthritis, fast heart beat, epilepsy, excess fatness, bronchitis asthma, TB, meningitis, kidney and urine diseases, vomiting, gastritis, diarrhea, piles, diabetes, constipation, all eye diseases, womb, cancer and menstrual disorders, ear nose and throat diseases.
METHOD OF TREATMENT
1. As you wake up in the morning before brushing teeth, drink 4 x 160ml glasses of water
2. Brush and clean the mouth but do not eat or drink anything for 45 minute
3.. After 45 minutes you may eat and drink as normal.
4. After 15 minutes of breakfast, lunch and dinner do not eat or drink anything for 2 hours
5. Those who are old or sick and are unable to drink 4 glasses of water at the beginning may commence by taking little water and gradually increase it to 4 glasses per day.
6. The above method of treatment will cure diseases of the sick and others can enjoy a healthy life.
The following list gives the number of days of treatment required to cure/control/reduce main diseases:
1. High Blood Pressure (30 days)
2. Gastric (10 days)
3. Diabetes (30 days)
4. Constipation (10 days)
5. Cancer (180 days)
6. TB (90 days)
7. Arthritis patients should follow the above treatment only for 3 days in the 1st week, and from 2nd week onwards – daily..
This treatment method has no side effects, however at the commencement of treatment you may have to urinate a few times.
It is better if we continue this and make this procedure as a routine work in our life. Drink Water and Stay healthy and Active.
This makes sense .. The Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals ..not cold water. Maybe it is time we adopt their drinking habit while eating!!! Nothing to lose, everything to gain...
For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you.
It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion.
Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine.
Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.
A serious note about heart attacks:
· Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting,
· Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line.
· You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack.
· Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms.
· 60% of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up.
· Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know, the better chance we could survive...
A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this mail sends it to everyone they know, you can be sure that we'll save at least one life.

Banana, Amazing Fruit!

Never, put your banana in the refrigerator!!!

This is interesting. After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again.

Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood. Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, theUS Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power
: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem withoutresorting to laxatives. Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system. Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.

Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also
neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruitthat can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand, for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.

Smoking: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

Strokes: According to research in "The New England Journal of Medicine, "eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!

Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!

So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around. So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

PS: Bananas must be the reason monkeys are so happy all the time! I will add one here; want a quick shine on our shoes?? Take the INSIDE of the banana skin, and rub directly on the shoe...polish with dry cloth.
Amazing fruit.

Dinner Invocation

This lady, a resident of a retirement community, was asked to give the invocation at a dinner/convention of retirement community managers. She does so, but then decides to add a few words of her own as a part of her invocation.

A friend of the couple who founded Home Instead Senior Care, Mary Maxwell was asked to give the invocation at the company’s 2009 Convention. Initially it seemed like a normal prayer, but it soon took a very funny turn. Her deadpan delivery and lines like …This is the first time I’ve ever been old… and it just sort of crept up on me … soon had the franchise owners rolling in the aisles. With the timing of a professional comedian, Mary shines a very funny light on the foibles of aging, to the delight of this audience of senior-care experts.

Commercial Orange Juice Is Not Fresh Orange Juice

If you buy orange juice at the store, you may lean towards the kind that advertises itself as “100 percent juice” and “not made from concentrate”. But have you ever wondered why every glass of it tastes exactly the same? That’s because the flavor of store-bought orange juice has more to do with chemistry than nature.

For industrially-produced orange juice, after the oranges are squeezed, the juice is stored in giant holding tanks and the oxygen is removed from them, which allows the liquid to keep for up to a year without spoiling. It also makes the juice completely flavorless. So the industry uses “flavor packs” to re-flavor the juice.

According to Food Renegade:

“Juice companies therefore hire flavor and fragrance companies ... to engineer flavor packs to add back to the juice to make it taste fresh. Flavor packs aren’t listed as an ingredient on the label because technically they are derived from orange essence and oil. Yet those in the industry will tell you that the flavor packs, whether made for reconstituted or pasteurized orange juice, resemble nothing found in nature.”

True Story

I love these touching Texas justice stories! You just gotta love and respect Texas women... The following is a TRUE STORY from the "THE HOUSTON CHRONICLE NEWSPAPER" in Houston, Texas

Last Thursday night around midnight, a woman from Houston, Texas was arrested, jailed and charged with manslaughter for shooting a man 6 times in the back as he was running away with her purse. ~

The following Monday morning, the woman was called in front of the arraignment Judge, sworn in and asked to explain her actions. The woman replied, "I was standing at the corner bus stop for about 15 minutes, waiting for the bus to take me home after work. I am a waitress at a local cafe. I was there alone, so I had my right hand on my pistol, that was in my purse, that was hung over my left shoulder. All of a sudden I was being spun around hard to my left. As I caught my balance, I saw a man running away from me with my purse. I looked down at my right hand and I saw that my fingers were wrapped tightly around my pistol. The next thing I remember is saying out loud, "No Way Punk! You're not stealing my pay check and tips." I raised my right hand, pointed my pistol at the man running away from me with my purse, and squeezed the trigger of my pistol 6 times!

When asked by the arraignment judge, "Why did you shoot the man 6 times? ~ The woman replied under oath, "Because, when I pulled the trigger the 7th time, it only went click."

The woman was acquitted of all charges. She was back at work at the cafe the next day!

Now that's Gun Control.... Texas Style ....!

Surprised!

Well, it's been a while since my last post here. It's so hard to find time to update all my blogs. I have a total of 6 blogs and I got lot of things to do beside writing posts so bear with me my dear readers. I will try to do my best to post here as often as I can.

Today I checked the page rank of this blog and I can't believe that it is now in PR2. I was really surprised! I have to check it twice to make sure and it's still the same result. I thank Mr. G for the increased PR though I don't update this blog regularly. PR come and go but I hope this will stay with me for a while so I will get more tasks in blogging.

10 Best Foods For Your Heart

Take good care of your heart. It's the only one you've got. Take heart with berries, beans, and other healthy fare. Here as some foods that are good for the heart.

Oatmeal
Start your day with a steaming bowl of oats, which are full of omega-3 fatty acids, folate, and potassium. This fiber-rich superfood can lower levels of LDL (or bad) cholesterol and help keep arteries clear.

Opt for coarse or steel-cut oats over instant varieties—which contain more fiber—and top your bowl off with a banana for another 4 grams of fiber.

Salmon
Super-rich in omega-3 fatty acids, salmon can effectively reduce blood pressure and keep clotting at bay. Aim for two servings per week, which may reduce your risk of dying of a heart attack by up to one-third.

"Salmon contains the carotenoid astaxanthin, which is a very powerful antioxidant," says cardiologist Stephen T. Sinatra, MD, the author of Lower Your Blood Pressure In Eight Weeks. But be sure to choose wild salmon over farm-raised fish, which can be packed with insecticides, pesticides, and heavy metals.

Not a fan of salmon? Other oily fish like mackerel, tuna, herring, and sardines will give your heart the same boost.

Avocado
Add a bit of avocado to a sandwich or spinach salad to up the amount of heart-healthy fats in your diet. Packed with monounsaturated fat, avocados can help lower LDL levels while raising the amount of HDL cholesterol in your body.

"Avocados are awesome," says Dr. Sinatra. "They allow for the absorption of other carotenoids—especially beta-carotene and lycopene—which are essential for heart health."

Olive oil
Full of monounsaturated fats, olive oil lowers bad LDL cholesterol and reduces your risk of developing heart disease.

Results from the Seven Countries Study, which looked at cardiovascular disease incidences across the globe, showed that while men in Crete had a predisposition for high cholesterol levels, relatively few died of heart disease because their diet focused on heart-healthy fats found in olive oil. Look for extra-virgin or virgin varieties—they're the least processed—and use them instead of butter when cooking.

Nuts
Walnuts are full of omega-3 fatty acids and, along with almonds and macadamia nuts, are loaded with mono- and polyunsaturated fat. Plus, nuts increase fiber in the diet, says Dr. Sinatra. "And like olive oil, they are a great source of healthy fat."

Berries
Blueberries, raspberries, strawberries—whatever berry you like best—are full of anti-inflammatories, which reduce your risk of heart disease and cancer.

"Blackberries and blueberries are especially great," says Sinatra. "But all berries are great for your vascular health."

Legumes
Fill up on fiber with lentils, chickpeas, and black and kidney beans. They're packed with omega-3 fatty acids, calcium, and soluble fiber.

Spinach
Spinach can help keep your ticker in top shape thanks to its stores of lutein, folate, potassium, and fiber.

But upping your servings of any veggies is sure to give your heart a boost. The Physicians' Health Study examined more than 15,000 men without heart disease for a period of 12 years. Those who ate at least two-and-a-half servings of vegetables each day cut their risk of heart disease by about 25%, compared with those who didn't eat the veggies. Each additional serving reduced risk by another 17%.

Flaxseed
Full of fiber and omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, a little sprinkling of flaxseed can go a long way for your heart. Top a bowl of oatmeal or whole-grain cereal with a smidgen of ground flaxseed for the ultimate heart-healthy breakfast.

Soy
Soy may lower cholesterol, and since it is low in saturated fat, it's still a great source of lean protein in a heart-healthy diet.

Look for natural sources of soy, like edamame, tempeh, or organic silken tofu. And soy milk is a great addition to a bowl of oatmeal or whole-grain cereal. But watch the amount of salt in your soy: some processed varieties like soy dogs can contain added sodium, which boosts blood pressure.

Everyone knows that it is beans.
"Beans, beans, good for the heart.
The more you eat, the more you fart
The more you fart, the better you feel
So eat more beans for every meal."

The Window From Which We Look

I got countless forwarded e-mails in my inbox and I hardly read them. I just choose what I want to read and the rest stayed unread until this time but this one really caught my attention. This is pretty humbling. Read on....

A young couple moves into a new neighborhood. The next morning while they are eating breakfast, the young woman sees her neighbor hanging the wash outside. "That laundry is not very clean", she said. "She doesn't know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap."Her husband looked on, but remained silent.

Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry, the young woman would make the same comments. About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a  nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband: "Look, she has learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this."

The husband said, "I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows."

And so it is with life. What we see when watching others depends on the purity of the window through which we look.

Christian Song

I first heard this song over the Christian radio I've been listening to many years ago. I enjoyed listening to the lyrics and the melody was so easy to learn. I got the lyrics and learned the song. Then I taught it to the youth in our church and we sang it during our worship service.

Isang Silip sa Langit

Ptr. Rolly Cayabyab

Sa langit walang lumpo

Doon walang nakakalbo

Mga ngipin ay kumpleto

Good bye na sa pustiso

Sa langit walang bulag

Walang matang nanlalabo

Mga pipi’t, mga bingi

Lahat ay gagaling kay Kristo

Walang pulubi sa langit

Doon walang magkakasakit

Wala na ring magugutom

Lahat tayo’y titira sa mansion

Wala ng graft & corruption

Wala na rin ang polusyon

Doon walang libingan

Buhay ay walang hanggan

Sa langit walang krimen

Good bye na sa kidnapping

Wala na ring mga sugal

Good bye na pati sa jueteng

Sa langit walang brown-out

Walang baha, wala ng lahar

Ginituan ang lansangan

Doon tayo mamasyal

Doon walang nagagalit

Doon wala ng masungit

Doon walang naiinggit

Punung-puno doon ng pag-ibig

In heaven there is no fear

The Prince of Peace is there

Kung nais mo sa langit

Kay Hesus ka kumapit (2x)

Holy Week Vacation

Hubby and I just came home from a 3 days vacation for the holy week. We spent it in the city of pines. We went there with my 2 nephews and their dad and 3 girls who are our relatives. It's refreshing to be in a cool place and my hubby enjoyed the cool weather there. He walked 2 to 3 times a day there. I also had to take the girls around the city because it was their first time to got there. Yesterday I took them to the public market and we bought some fish, veggies and fruits. This morning we took them to Burnham Park then we headed to Camp John Hay for a picnic. We celebrated my nephew's birthday there. We enjoyed the foods, so yummy were the pancit, spaghetti, roasted chicken, lumpia, doughnuts, cake, bananas and some chips and drinks. We had lots of picture taking then we headed to the park and the boys played tennis. After that he headed home and then went back to the lowland.

Childbirth at 65

From time to time, I share here those forwarded e-mails that made me laugh. I received quite a few everyday but I just chose to read those interesting or funny ones. Here's one of them.

With all the new technology regarding fertility recently, a 65-year-old friend of mine was able to give birth. When she was discharged from the hospital and went home, I went to visit.

'May I see the new baby?' I asked

'Not yet,' she said 'I'll make coffee and we can visit for a while first.'

Thirty minutes had passed and I asked, 'May I see the new baby now?'

'No, not yet,' she said.

After another few minutes had elapsed, I asked again, 'May I see the baby now?'

'Nooooo, not yet,' replied my friend.

Growing very impatient, I asked, 'Well, when can I see the baby?'

'WHEN HE CRIES!' she told me.

'WHEN HE CRIES?' I demanded. 'Why do I have to wait until he cries?

'BECAUSE...... I FORGOT WHERE I PUT HIM..... OKAY?!!'
